As a chief technology officer and professor in emergent technologies, I've made it my life's work to understand how humans work with technology to create meaningful progress. But the last few years have brought about rapid change that the general workforce is struggling to keep up with. As an advisor on Dell Technologies' recent Breakthrough study, I was among other voices in the tech community calling for a reformation in organizational relations that are inhibiting innovation. Dell's Breakthrough study polled 10,500 respondents worldwide across industries and business functions, investigating workers' openness to digital transformation. Their findings concluded that employees are experiencing burnout at unprecedented levels, while still being tasked with the expectation to excel and scale alongside rapid technological advancement.

The time is now to build a more gender inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Europe – but how can that be best actualised in practice and at scale? I am delighted to be participating in EU AI Week and especially #breakthebias: Women in AI event Hear tomorrow from Nicole Foster Director of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Global AI ML together with policymakers, business leaders, the European AI #research community and #startups to discuss the policies and actions needed to build a more diverse and inclusive AI sector. I am delighted to provide closing comments too. This is a fantastic'dialogue for action' opportunity – with speakers from OECD - OCDE European Commission European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) French Government Belgian Federal Government and Women in AI. Above all be inspired by the women leading AI start-ups in Europe in the driving seat to develop the #future of this technology, making everything about the way we live and work better!

The world is looking for organizations who stand for something. Indeed recent research by the Edelman Trust Barometer 2021 shows people now typically trust your business more than their country's government, news media, and even NGOs. So as we reflect on our aspirations and indeed resolutions for 2022 and the'moments which matter' to take forward from last year, the rise in prominence of Sustainability as a core component of business model evolution, alongside – the Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) – continuum is personally very much front of mind. Especially building on attending events such as COP26, the Social Innovation Forum, Re:Invent and now CES2022 where this has been center stage.

Words matter - they help frame our understanding of the world and shape our thoughts, actions and interactions. Inclusion, equity and diversity are all words that are increasingly used but have varying meanings for different issues and groups of people. To compound the issue, they are also often used interchangeably. Treated separately or understood differently, they address only part of our human experience. So the word that resonates with me the most is that of'belonging,' as it focuses on the whole.
